If you’re looking for some not-so-greasy/less shiny hair products, check out a couple products by Short Sexy Hair & Redken. Short Sexy Hair makes a “Control Maniac” wax that’s pretty remarkable. It’s extremely pliable, easy to run through your hair with just your hands and keeps your hair in place without much need for a comb if you’re not tryin’ to look dapper. It’ll set you back about $15, but you don’t need a lot of it to get a lot out of it. Also, this shit is blue - and i’m a sucker for something a little different.
Redken makes a “High Rise” wax that’s pretty similar to the Short Sexy Hair “Control Manic” wax, but it’s slightly grittier so ya gotta muddle it around in your hands for a few seconds to start. It’s also slightly tacky, so its works better in dry hair. If you use this one in wet/damp hair, it’ll give your hair a chunky look - so unless you’re after that ’90s boy band look, stick with applying it in dry hair and you’ll be good to go. The hold, by the way? Crazy strong.

If you’re cool with gettin’ greasy though, try out High Life pomades. They’re, by far, my favorite pomades out there right now. Various weights that don’t require numerous shampoos to wash out, and they all have good shine, are easy to comb through & are easy on your wallet.
PS I have thick hair that always wants to curl up despite my will against it. If these products work for my hair, they’ll work for yours.
